Artistes and technicians not paid, FWICE bans RGV

Director Ram Gopal Varma has been served a legal notice by the Federation of West Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) for not paying his actors and technicians. It is reported that he has to pay around Rs. 1.25 crore as remuneration.

The FWICE says that despite sending several letters regarding the payment, the director was unwilling to accept them. The organization has decided none of its 32 unions will work with Ram Gopal Varma and had brought the matter to the attention of the Motion Picture Producers Association and the Producers Guild of India.

Despite the controversy, the director has announced his next film. The film is based on the life of Dawood Ibrahim.

Since the start of Lockdown, more than a dozen films have been released on the OTT platform by RGV World Theatre. He directed seven films, including ‘Thriller’, ‘Climax’, ‘Naked’, ‘Powerstar’, ‘Murder’, ’12O Clock ‘and’ Disha Encounter ‘.
