Lack of smoking warning, KGF Chapter 2 teaser in trouble

The teaser of much awaited Yash starrer KGF 2 has created a huge record by reaching 150 million views and is still increasing. But due to lack of smoking disclaimer in a scene, the teaser has irked the Karnataka State Anti-Tobacco Cell.

The Cell has taken exception to the visuals showing actor Yash lighting a cigarette from a gun and smoking. A letter objecting to the visuals in the teaser have been sent to the film director Prashant Neel, Yash, producer Vijay Kiragandur, and the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce.

The cell pointed that the visuals showing the actor smoking violated Section 5 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) 2003. The act is generally known as COTPA 2003.

The teaser did not carry a ‘Smoking is injurious to health’ disclaimer, which is mandatory for depictions carrying smoking, according to the notice. The cell has also decided to seek deletion of the teaser from online platforms and also removal of posters of the film that promote smoking.
