Legendary musician and a giant in the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan passed away at the age of 89. He died at his residence in Mumbai on Sunday.
Apart from being a Hindustani musician, he was also the mentor of many famous Bollywood musicians like Mannade, Geeta Dutt, Asha Bhosle, A R Rahman, Hariharan and Sonu Nigam
Many dignitaries including AR Rahman, Lata Mangeshkar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Hansal Mehta, Salim Merchant and other expressed their condolences.

He made his debut in 1957 with a Marathi film. Later, he sang in several films and albums.
He has received the country’s highest honors, including the Padma Shri, the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Vibhushan. He also received numerous international awards and the Sangeet Akademi Awards.
