Joe Biden sworn in as 46th US President, Kamala Harris creates history as first woman VP

Joe Biden took oath as the 46th President of the United States of America at the US Capitol building in Washington. 78 year old Joe Biden became the oldest person to become the president of the United States.  Kamala Harris sworn in as 49th Vice-President of the country. She made history as America’s first woman and first person with south Asian roots to take the office of the Vice President.

In his speech, Biden emphasized that unity is the only way to move America forward successfully. “America will be a world power again,” Biden said. Biden called his victory ‘a victory for democracy’ and hoped that the United States would be able to create a new world.

Hours before the swearing-in, former President Donald Trump flew to Florida.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama attended the swearing ceremony.
