The Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), Mysuru has readied food for the astronauts of Gaganyaan mission next year. The food items send to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will undergo sensory testing by astronauts.
About 35 food items including vegetable pulav, egg and veg rolls, chicken biryani, dal makni, shahi paneer, chicken kurma, powdered fruit juice, almonds and nuts, and other food items have been prepared.
The food is packed in specially designed packaging material that can prevent contamination.
The Gaganyaan mission aims to send a three-member crew to space for a period of five to seven days by 2022.
